Episode 42: Melbourne Now - Simone LeAmon

In this episode, Jan Henderson meets Simone LeAmon, Guest Curator at the Melbourne Now exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria, to discuss her role in creating arguably the most exciting and engaging exhibition of architecture, design and urban planning issues Melbourne has ever seen.

For over twenty years, Simone LeAmon has been engaged in a range of commercial and cultural productions in both the local and international worlds of art and design – from product design to site-specific and interior design, jewellery, limited edition collectibles, and design-artwork for exhibition. Her practice, Simone LeAmon Design and Creative Strategy, blends ingenuity and meticulous craftsmanship with wit and flair. She has won numerous awards, including the Cecily and Colin Rigg Contemporary Design Award by the National Gallery of Victoria. Simone was granted the Australia Council for the Arts Greene street studio residency in New York in 2012 and JamFactory Craft and Design Centre, Adelaide designer in residence (2011-13). Simone’s inclusion in the 2007 publication &fork by Phaidon Press U.K, identified her as one of the world’s most exciting designers, also shortlisted in The Bulletin’s ‘smart 100’ (2007).
