Episode 55: WAF 2014 - Michael Heenan AJ+C


Michael Heenan is Allen Jack+Cottier’s CEO, a Principal of the company. He is an award-winning architect whose sector-spanning portfolio features everything from masterplanning to aged care design, student accommodation architecture, residential, sports and recreation projects, and urban design.

His design for Berry Sports and Recreation Hall was named Best Sports Building at the World Architecture Festival (2009). His Milson Island Indoor Sports Stadiumdesign received an International Olympic Committee Silver Medal (2013).

In 2009 he was the recipient of an unprecedented two consecutive Blacket Prizes for Excellence in Architecture from the Australian Institute of Architects. He was winner of Best Sports Building at the World Architecture Festival in 2009, and was subsequently invited to join the judging panel at the 2010, 2011 and 2012 festivals in Barcelona and Singapore. Michael was Chair of the 2010 New South Wales AIA Architecture Awards jury.

Jan Henderson caught up with Michael at this year’s World Architecture Festival to speak about his expansion into Asia, and what future projects he finds most exciting.
