Episode 68: Black Street - Major Home Project

Kevin Starling, designer and builder of the $11 million major home renovation and extension at Black Street Brighton in Victoria, walks and talks viewers through the challenges of completely rebuilding, refitting and extending this major heritage-listed home.

Amongst the challenges, Kevin, owner of Designology in Melbourne, had to overcome repeated building approval limitations, major design challenges and project management issues bought about by the sheer scale of the project, plus the retro-fitting of a raft of environmental and technology solutions in the more than 100-year old building.

The finished result, highly regarded by owners Ian and Debbie Smith, is a testimony to the patience, perseverance and imagination of both owners and designer.
